New check
For service businesses

Can AI assistants
find your business?

A free check for service businesses. It reads your live site the way Google and AI assistants do: your services, locations, reviews and contact details. You get a score out of 100 and a prioritised list of what to fix.

Try:

A free AI visibility and local SEO check for service businesses

Type in your website and the check reads your public pages the way search engines and AI assistants do. Usually in under a minute you get a score out of 100, a grade, and a list of what to fix, ranked by how much each fix should help for the work it takes. It checks 64 signals in nine areas. The score, the breakdown and every signal are free. The full fix list, with the code or copy to add, and the PDF unlock when you enter an email address.

What it checks

Crawlability and indexing
Whether search engines can reach and index the site: robots.txt, sitemap, canonical URLs, no accidental noindex, HTTPS, real 404 pages.
On-page SEO
Titles, meta descriptions, one clear H1, heading order, real text on the homepage, image alt text and internal links.
Local SEO
Whether Google and an assistant can tell where you are and who you serve: LocalBusiness schema, a phone number machines can read, your address or service area, hours, service-area pages and your location in the copy.
Structured data
The schema.org layer: whether it parses, Service or OfferCatalog markup for what you sell, breadcrumbs, FAQ and business identity markup.
Service content
A real page for each service with real detail, FAQs, a portfolio or case studies, reviews on the site and recent articles.
AI crawlers and answer engines
Whether the crawlers behind ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity are allowed in, whether your content is in the HTML rather than only in JavaScript, whether key facts are stated in plain text, and whether your business name is unambiguous.
Trust
An About page, licences or insurance stated, linked social and directory profiles, and a real way to reach you.
Leads
A quote or contact page, a form a person or an assistant can fill in, a clear call to action, how you price and how fast you reply.
Technical delivery
Mobile viewport, server response time, compression and page weight.

How it works

  1. Enter your web address. The check fetches your homepage, robots.txt and sitemap, your contact, about, quote and FAQ pages, and a sample of your service pages. Nothing is installed and there is nothing to log in to.
  2. Each signal is marked pass, partial, fail, not applicable or unmeasured. Things that don't apply to your business, like a street address for a trade that works at customers' homes, are left out of the score instead of counted against you. Emerging conventions such as llms.txt are shown for awareness and never scored.
  3. You get a score and a fix list in order. Fixes are ranked by estimated score impact per hour of work. Share the report with a link, compare your site with a competitor's, and run it again after you make changes.

What a score can and can't tell you

The check measures whether your site is easy for search engines and AI assistants to reach, read and understand. It doesn't measure where you rank, and it doesn't ask ChatGPT about you. A high score makes your site easier to read. It doesn't guarantee rankings, AI citations or leads.

Google says there are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode beyond being indexed and eligible to show in Search. So most of what helps is search fundamentals, done properly. Your reviews, your Google Business Profile and what other sites say about you matter too, and a website check can't see most of that. More on this in What an AI reads before it recommends you.

Questions

Is the AI visibility check free?

Yes. The score, the breakdown of all nine areas and every signal are free, with no sign-up. The full fix list with the code to paste, and the PDF and JSON downloads, unlock when you enter an email address. Occasional emails from Aurum Designs are opt-in.

What kind of business is it for?

Service businesses with a website: trades and contractors, clinics, studios, agencies, venues and other local services. It isn't built for online stores, which need a different audit for product listings and checkout.

Does it check whether ChatGPT recommends my business?

No. It checks whether assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity can reach and read your site, and whether your key facts are clear. Whether an assistant names you also depends on your reviews, your Google Business Profile and what other sites say about you.

How long does it take?

Usually 10 to 40 seconds. Sites behind bot protection can take longer or block some checks. Those checks are marked unmeasured, not failed.

Do I need an llms.txt file?

It's optional. Google says Search doesn't need one, and the check never scores it. It can still be a tidy summary of your business for tools that read it. See llms.txt, explained in five minutes.

What happens to my website details and email?

The check reads public pages only. The result is stored so the report link works and your score history builds up. If you enter an email address, it's kept with that report, and you only get marketing email if you tick the box. See the privacy policy.

Can Aurum Designs fix what it finds?

Yes. Every website we build ships with the basics this check looks for, at a published price: see websites. Or hand the fix list to your own developer. Each fix comes with the code.
